MCCEA Supports Rafael Turner and Art Reyes for Board of Trustees

The most important election for us on Tuesday, November 8 is at the bottom of the ballot, for the Mott Community College Board of Trustees. We have an opportunity to make substantial progress with this election! The MCCEA has endorsed the one incumbent seeking re-election, Rafael Turner, and Art Reyes. Please tell your families, your friends, your neighbors.

Rafael Turner is an incumbent with five years of experience on the MCC Board and has been receptive to honest communication with the college unions. Rafael is a former Community Affairs Manager for Senator Carl Levin, where he provided a consistent voice for labor in Flint and for American manufacturing, and he served for more than a decade in the office of Congressman Dale Kildee. Prior to joining the board, Rafael worked as a Legislative Assistant in the United States Senate, advocating for Michigan workers and businesses by securing grant programs for components of advanced electric vehicles. Since joining the board in 2011, Mr. Turner has contributed his experience and skills in philanthropy, nonprofit management, and government. The MCCEA asks that you vote to return him to the Board.

We also ask that you vote for Art Reyes for the MCC Board. Art works as an electrician at the GM Flint

Truck and Bus plant and is the former President of UAW Local 651. Art spent 10 years coaching youth football and baseball, as well as led scout troops (both boys and girls), and has spoken to high school students in 20 area high schools about civic responsibility and achieving their dreams. In addition, he is an MCC Distinguished Alumnus and father of an MCC student. His connections to, and vision for, the college is strong, and the MCCEA is excited about the prospect of adding a staunch defender of organized labor to the MCC Board.

We will have yard signs available for pick up starting at 5:30pm today at MCCEA Humanities Rep Kim Owens' house: in College Cultural, 1021 Blanchard Ave, Flint (close to MCC). Pick up by the garage.
